geography
course
The Seelbach rises in the Eifel National Park at 413.8 m above sea level. NHN height in a mixed forest.
It initially flows almost half a kilometer in a southerly direction through a wooded Kerbtal valley and then enters the NSG Meisberg north of Mauel . There it moves along the western edge of the forest through grassland and then reaches the northern edge of the Gemünder district Mauel.
It now runs through a green zone, then disappears piped into the underground and finally flows into the Urft from the east at a height of about 347 m from the right and only about fifty meters below the mouth of the Mühlenbach on the other side .
Catchment area
The almost one hundred hectare catchment area of the Seelbach lies in the natural area of Gemünder Urft and Oleftäler and is drained into the North Sea via Urft, Rur , Maas and Hollands Diep .
It borders
- in the north to that of the Bergerbach , a tributary of the Eselbach
- in the northeast to that of the Eselsbach , a tributary of the Rotbach
- and in the east to that of the small Urft tributary Mittelbach .
The catchment area is largely forested and only the estuary is populated.
