The Seelbach is an almost one kilometer long, northern and right tributary of the Urft in the district of Schleiden 's Gemünd district in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Euskirchen .

The Seelbach rises in the Eifel National Park at 413.8  m above sea level. NHN height in a mixed forest.

It initially flows almost half a kilometer in a southerly direction through a wooded Kerbtal valley and then enters the NSG Meisberg north of Mauel . There it moves along the western edge of the forest through grassland and then reaches the northern edge of the Gemünder district Mauel.

It now runs through a green zone, then disappears piped into the underground and finally flows into the Urft from the east at a height of about 347  m from the right and only about fifty meters below the mouth of the Mühlenbach on the other side .

Catchment area

The almost one hundred hectare catchment area of ​​the Seelbach lies in the natural area of Gemünder Urft and Oleftäler and is drained into the North Sea via Urft, Rur , Maas and Hollands Diep .

It borders

  • in the north to that of the Bergerbach , a tributary of the Eselbach
  • in the northeast to that of the Eselsbach , a tributary of the Rotbach
  • and in the east to that of the small Urft tributary Mittelbach .

The catchment area is largely forested and only the estuary is populated.
