The Seelotse is a former pilot transfer boat of the Lotsenbrüderschaft Weser II / Jade , which used the ship in the feeder service to the pilot station ship lying in the Weser estuary and for the pilot change on the Weser at the level of the Geeste estuary off Bremerhaven .
The ship is approved for a maximum of 30 people, who can only be accommodated on board during day trips. There are sleeping places on board for twelve people (including crew), and there are also two emergency beds.
history
The sea pilot was built at the Fr. Schweers shipyard in Berne-Bardenfleth . The launch took place in December 1955, the commissioning followed on January 19, 1956. The ship, which was built for a crew of three , is 29.80 m long, 5.45 m wide and has a draft of 2 m. It is powered by an eight-cylinder Deutz - Diesel engine with a power of 628 hp , a top speed of about 12 knots . The construction costs were around 420,000 DM.
In 1998 the sea pilot was decommissioned. The Maritime Monument Protection Association in Bremerhaven took over the ship in October of that year and received it as a traditional ship . The association undertook with the ship u. a. Guest and round trips.
Due to a lack of money, the association put the ship up for sale in 2010. In order to maintain the sea pilot , Team Ship Management bought the traditional ship. For the maintenance and operation of the ship, the Friends of the traditional ship MS "SEELOTSE" eV was founded in December 2010.
In July 2014, the ship was sold to Hamburg due to high maintenance costs. The new owner, who with the Bremerlotse also bought another former pilot transfer boat in 2009, wants to use the ship as a floating office, but also continue to use it for excursions.
