The Garmisch-Partenkirchen section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) e. V. ( DAV Garmisch for short ) is a section of the German Alpine Club in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . With 7,208 members, the DAV Garmisch is 31st of the largest sections of the German Alpine Club .

Foundation of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen section

The section was founded as the “German & Austrian Alpine Association Garmisch Section” ( DuÖAV ) on September 28, 1887 by Max Byschl (1855–1931). Associated with the section is Adolf Zoeppritz (1855–1939), German engineer, honorary citizen of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the first honorary chairman of the Garmisch section.
