The Kreuzeckhaus ( 1652  m above sea level ), also known under the name Adolf-Zoeppritz-Haus , is a mountain hut of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen section of the German Alpine Club that is managed almost all year round . It is located on the Kreuzeck , directly opposite the strikingly shaped Alpspitze .

Accesses

  • With the Kreuzeck gondola from Garmisch / Hammersbach to next to the house.
  • From Hammersbach over the "Waldeck" (approx. 3 hours mountain climbing).

Transitions

summit

  • Alpspitze ( 2,620  m ) on "Nice course" and east ridge (3½ hours, alpine experience, surefootedness and head for heights are required), or via the "North Face-Ferrata" -Klettersteig (for experts only with the appropriate equipment)
  • High Gaif ( 2289  m ) over Schöngang, north flank and upper east ridge (3½ hours, climbing tour with difficulty level II)

Others

After the refurbishment of the hut in 1926, the painter and graphic artist Wilhelm Emil "Elk" Eber designed the fresco with a mountaineering motif in the staircase in 1928 , which, like his painting "Der Bergführer" (1925), can still be seen there today.
