There is an ORS transmitter mast on the Zinkenkogel near Hallein . It serves as a filler for radio programs in the southern city of Salzburg , southern Flachgau and northern Tennengau . It was built because the range of the Gaisberg was insufficient for the areas mentioned due to the geographic location and the direction of radiation of the transmitter. It is also considered a filling station for the eastern Berchtesgadener Land , more precisely the municipality of Marktschellenberg and the Obersalzberg . Because of its exposed location, the station has a very large area, especially the frequency of Kronehit that even reaches the house jolt in the distance .
