Sennfeld is a district of Adelsheim in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg . Sennfeld is located around two kilometers southwest of Adelsheim in the Seckachtal and has around 1,200 inhabitants.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1110. The oldest forms of the name are Senfeldt (around 1100) and Senvfelt (1271). The name is derived from mustard field . In 1615 Margaretha von Carben , a granddaughter of the knight Götz von Berlichingen , donated the Protestant parish church. The Sennfeld Castle, formerly owned by members of the family of the Barons von Berlichingen, was built in 1713 in the rural Baroque style. Sennfeld came to Baden in 1806 and belonged to the Osterburken office and with this came to the Adelsheim district office in 1828 and from 1936 belonged to the Buchen district . The municipality of Sennfeld and the city of Adelsheim merged on January 1, 1975 to form the city of Adelsheim. Until 1846, Volkshausen belonged to the municipality of Sennfeld. Before the merger with Adelsheim, the municipality of Sennfeld included the village of Sennfeld, the villages of Hof Bender and Roßbrunnerhof and the residential areas Hammermühle and Talmühle.

Cultural monuments
The Protestant parish church founded by Margaretha von Carben in 1615 is located in Sennfeld. Sennfeld Castle, formerly owned by members of the von Berlichingen family , was built in 1713 in a rural Baroque style. The town's former synagogue, which was used as a place of worship from 1836 to 1938, is now a museum. Other prominent buildings in the village include the Protestant rectory and the former town hall built around 1900.
