Sensberg (Odenwald)

The Sensberg is a wooded mountain in the Odenwald and is mainly in the Hebstahl district , the northern sub-summit ( 464  m above sea level ) partly in the Unter-Sensbach district of the town of Oberzent in the Odenwald district in Hesse .

The Sensberg is the southern pillar in the mountain range on the east side of the valley, which the Sensbach dug into the Buntsandstein-Odenwald and in which the three districts of the former municipality of Sensbachtal are located. The summit region forms a ridge that is roughly bent in the shape of an "L", the outer flanks of which slope down into the 250-meter-deep notch valley of the Sensbach, which forms a valley here and turns its direction of flow from south to east. The eastern foothills of the Sensberg lies above the confluence of the Sensbach into the Itter and bears the name Itterberg , still rising at about 420 meters above sea level .

As the 100-meter-long Schartenhöhe shows, the Sensberg is clearly separated from the other surrounding Odenwald heights. Starting in the north and counting counterclockwise, it is surrounded by the peaks of the Falkenberg ( 546.1  m above sea level ) in the north, the Schnuppenberg ( 506.9  m above sea level ) in the northwest in front of the Sensbacher Höhe ( 557.8  m above sea level) . NN ), the Hohe Warte ( 551.5  m above sea level ) in the southwest, the Imberg ( 395  m above sea level ) in the south in front of the highest Odenwald summit only four and a half kilometers away, Katzenbuckel ( 626.8  m above sea level ), des Winterhauchs ( 534.4  m above sea level ) in the southeast and the Salzlackenkopf ( 576.1  m above sea level ) in the east.
