The Serbian national basketball team for women represents Serbia at international games. It was formed in 2006 after the separation from Serbia and Montenegro and is thus one of the successors to the Serbian-Montenegrin women's selection and is thus also indirectly in line with the Yugoslav selection . The Serbian selection was not very successful at first and missed qualifying for the 2011 European Championship after participating in two preliminary rounds . Then Marina Maljković , daughter of the well-known coach Božidar Maljković , took over the selection as the responsible trainer and was able to lead them to the semi -finals of the 2013 European Championship finals two years later , where they narrowly missed a medal. In 2014, when they participated in a basketball world championship for the first time , they finished eighth.

In 2015, the team achieved the greatest success in history when they won the title at the European Championship .

In 2016, the team achieved another great success when they won the bronze medal at the Summer Olympics .
