In 1999 he moved to the Moldovan first division club Sheriff Tiraspol , with whom he won the national cup that year.

Perchun moved for the 2001 season to the Russian army sports club CSKA Moscow . Actually signed as a substitute goalkeeper, he made his first appearance on matchday three against Spartak Moscow . In his missions he showed a very convincing performance, so that he soon became number 1 in Moscow. In his first twelve league games, he went six times without conceding a goal and never had to accept a second goal.

National team

He was a member of various youth national teams in Ukraine, including the team that finished third in the U-16 European Championship in 1994 and the country's U-21 team, where Perchun played eleven games. On August 15, 2001 he was the first time in the goal of the Ukrainian national team against Latvia .

death

The game against Anzhi Makhachkala on August 19, 2001 was only his 13th league game for CSKA when he was hit in the 75th minute by the foot of the striker Budun Budunov . Perchun had to be carried out of place on a stretcher. At first still responsive, Perchun's heart stopped on the way to the waiting plane back to Moscow. Both suffered severe head injuries, but while Budunov was recovering, Perchun died nine days later.

Serhiy Perchun left his wife Yulia and two daughters together. The second was born about two months after his death.
