The Setta is a 47 km long river in Italy in the regions of Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna . It runs through the province of Prato and the metropolitan cities of Florence and Bologna from south to north.
course
The Setta rises between the mountains Monte della Scoperta and Poggio di Petto in the northern municipality of Vernio (west of the district of Montepiano , 700 meters above sea level ) in the province of Prato and spends 7 km there. He then touches the municipality of Firenzuola (Province of Florence) for 1 km and then leaves Tuscany to enter the Emilia-Romagna region and its Province of Bologna. Here it flows through the municipality of Castiglione dei Pepoli between the main town and the district of Baragazza. In this area the tributary Gambellato arrives from the right . In the northeastern municipality it then forms the border to the municipality of San Benedetto Val di Sambro , where the Brasimone flows from the left . Flowing further north, it now reaches the western municipality of Grizzana Morandi and the eastern one of Monzuno , where the Sambro enters from the right in the district of Rioveggio (244 meters above sea level) . Shortly before Sasso Marconi (128 meters above sea level) the river meets the drainage into the tunnels of the still existing aqueduct Acquedotto romano . Shortly afterwards it enters the Reno as a right tributary .
Acquedotto romano
At Sasso Marconi and shortly before the confluence with the Reno, the Romans diverted parts of the water at 850 meters above sea level in the times of Augustus in order to feed the Acquedotto romano aqueduct , part of the Romanesque water supply for Bologna . The 18 km long tunnel and canal system, rediscovered in 1861, was restored by Antonio Zannoni and released on June 5, 1881.
