Shahla Aghapour ( listen to ? / I , شهلا آقاپور,; * before 1988 in Tehran , Iran ) is an Iranian artist and writer living in Germany. Audio file / audio sample

biography

Shahla Aghapour grew up as the daughter of Iranian Azerbaijanis in Tehran and was interested in art and literature from an early age. In addition to studying art, she trained as a journalist and worked for the newspaper Ayandegan ( German future ) at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution . She had to emigrate from Iran - also as a result of her journalistic activities critical of the regime - and went to Germany.  

Since then, Shahla Aghapour has been working as a writer, visual artist and performance artist and has had exhibitions and readings in Germany and other countries. She also completed a social pedagogical training as well as a postgraduate Master of Art degree at the UdK Berlin and works as an art lecturer and director of artistic projects.

Shahla Aghapour is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists , PEN Center for Writers in Exile in German-speaking Countries and was chairwoman of the Iranian Association of Writers in Exile from 2007 to 2009.

Shahla Aghapour lives in Berlin.
