Shame is a pop song written by Christian Ballard, Tim Hawes, Pete Kirtley and Andrew Murray for the band Monrose's debut album Temptation . The production teams Jiant and Snowflake acted as co-producers. The song was released on December 1, 2006 as the first single from the album and reached the top position in the single charts in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Since 2004, not so many individual titles have been sold in a chart week. On July 13, 2007 Shame went back to number 100 on the official MediaControl charts. So Shame was in the top 100 for 17 weeks.

Background information

Shame was first sung by Bahar Kizil on November 16, 2006 in the penultimate episode of the fifth season of Popstars . This appearance made it onto the Internet and occupied the top position of played videos on MyVideo.de and Clipfish.de for days . Despite the fact that the song had not yet been touted as the winning band's debut single, amazon.com inadvertently released one of the pre-made CD covers on November 17th, on which three of the six finalists (Katarzyna Zinkiewicz, Mandy Capristo and Bahar Kizil) were seen. This accident stirred up doubts among fans as to whether the band had not been determined beforehand, but ProSieben made the name of the band and debut single official on the same day, denying allegations of fraud - CD covers had been created for all possible band constellations.

On November 23, Shame was presented live in three versions in the final episode of Popstars . It all started with a combination of Arjeta Zuta, Romina Reinhardt and Bahar Kizil. Katarzyna Zinkiewicz, Senna Guemmour and Mandy Capristo also performed their version. The show ended with a live performance by the final trio Monrose.

In retrospect, was Shame of as biasing music pop stars - spin-offs Popstars - Ninas Engel used.

Music video

Successful director Oliver Sommer, who has already worked with successful artists such as Sarah Connor , Texas Lightning , US5 , Nena and Jeanette Biedermann , was hired for the video shoot . The shooting took place in the week around October 30, 2006 in the Ballhaus in Berlin. The music video celebrated its world premiere on November 24th in the daily boulevard program taff on ProSieben.

The video clip begins with Kizil waking up the morning after an argument with her boyfriend. Excerpts of Guemmour and Capristo in mourning in the bathroom and kitchen are woven in. The whole video ends with a scene in which a young man with flowers enters the kitchen and smiles. The argument seems to be over and reconciliation is near.
