Temptation (English for " temptation ") is the first studio album by the girl group Monrose . It was released on December 8, 2006 under the Starwatch label ( Warner Music ) and contains pop and R&B songs.

Some songs on the album were produced by Dieter Falk , one of the three jury members of the fifth season of the talent show Popstars . The other pieces were written and produced by Toni Cottura , Jiant and Marc Mozart , among others . By May 2007, Temptation had sold over 400,000 copies and earned double platinum status .

background

production

The entire album was mainly recorded in the Weryton Studios in Munich from October 2006 to November 2006. Each of the six pop stars finalists sang all twelve songs on the album, so that the voices of the three winners could be mixed right after the final. Some songs were sung but not included on the final album, including Black Train , Diamonds & Pearls and Kiss & Tell . The title Butt Butt was initially only available as a download from Musicload . Diamonds & Pearls and Butt Butt later appeared as the B-side on the single Even Heaven Cries .

Criticism and reception

Temptation was largely received positively by critics, as the critic Stefan Johannesberg of the online music magazine laut.de described the songs on the album as "British catchy". Monrose appeared as " Destiny's Child and Pussycat Dolls ". The album was a great success: It immediately topped the German, Austrian and Swiss album charts and was awarded platinum for more than 200,000 copies sold in the first week of sales. By June 2007 Temptation had been sold over 400,000 times worldwide.

A total of two songs from the album were released as a single: On the one hand, the mid-tempo ballad Shame , which took first place in the charts in four countries, became the fastest-selling single of the year and the most downloaded single of all time in Germany to date and became one of the most successful debut singles of the year. For the second single release, it was decided to use Even Heaven Cries , which were also used for Monrose's participation in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . The song reached the top 10 in Germany and cracked the top 20 in Austria and Switzerland.

Monrose confirmed in a live chat on the website of the television station KI.KA that the next single will be released at the end of April 2007, will come from Temptation and will be performed on the Bravo Supershow 2007. Monrose appeared with the title Do That Dance , with which this song was initially unofficially confirmed. In May of that year Monrose corrected himself in a live chat for the Amadeus Award that there would be a new, unknown song. On May 24th, Monrose appeared at the final show of the second season of Germany's Next Topmodel and presented the song Hot Summer .

The song Push Up on Me was used from June 14, 2007 as opening credits for the docu-soap The Model and the Freak .

Song information

Do that dance

Do That Dance is a song for Temptation written by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Richard Maltby . Do That Dance was indirectly confirmed as the band's third single by band member Senna Guemmour when she answered yes in a live chat on the TV station KI.KA if the next single should be performed at the Bravo Supershow 2007. Monrose performed with Do That Dance . In advance, the website of the Austrian Amadeus Awards reported about Do That Dance as the next single. Furthermore, Monrose confirmed that the single would be released "at the end of April". In retrospect, Monrose corrected himself during another live chat, this time in time for the Amadeus Award, that a completely new and unknown song would be released as a single. On May 24, 2007, the ProSieben tabloid magazine SAM announced that there would be no further single releases from Temptation .

Do That Dance was premiered on November 16, 2006 in the penultimate episode of the fifth season of the casting format Popstars by the semi-finalist Leonore Bartsch . Monrose appeared with the song for the first time on German television on January 12, 2007 with playback vocals in the dance show You Can Dance on Sat.1 . Despite Bartsch's appearance during Popstars , the presenter Anna Maier announced the performance of the song as a world premiere. At this point, neither the second single, Even Heaven Cries , nor Do That Dance was confirmed as the third single.

Do That Dance is based on the same arrangement and melody as the hip-hop song Bad Boy by the French girl band Kay Cee Dee from 2006. The two songs differ in language, since Do That Dance is in English and Bad Boy is sung in French and regarding the content of the lyrics. Although a music video was produced for the song by the French women, the single didn't make it to market and has not been released to this day.
