Ladylike -

Ladylike ( German: "Damenhaft" ) is the fourth studio album by the girl group Monrose . It was published on June 11, 2010 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

background

After the release of the last single Why Not Us , the band took a break to pursue other activities. Senna Guemmour presented the karaoke show Singing Bee on ProSieben , Bahar Kizil also presented a karaoke show, Star Karaoke , on the Cartoon Network. Mandy Capristo, on the other hand, worked as a model for Otto and ProSieben's We Love collection. It wasn't until the summer of 2009 that the girls began recording the new album. The long pause of two years between the new releases was a novelty. However, Guemmour explained that this was a relief, as there was no great time pressure and the recordings went ahead relaxed. For Ladylike , the band had the largest selection of songs for the track list to date, as a lot of material had accumulated in a two-year break. The selection was made by the band members and in addition, second opinions were obtained from their families, friends and producers.

The recordings for Ladylike took place in Germany, but also in New York City . The band members found this time very inspiring. Bahar Kizil said, "Recording an album in a city like New York is putting yourself on a whole different level." The songs that were recorded in New York are Superstar DJ and Don't Take It Personal .

The title Ladylike is supposed to symbolize that the band has matured and grown up during the short break and the girls have developed into strong women. The album cover was photographed by photographer Christian Barz.

The reviews of Ladylike were rather negative. Eberhard Dobler from Laut.de awarded two out of five possible points and described some of the songs as "clumsy", "lame on the waist", "bulky" or "sucked out". It is "primarily about a production that must meet minimum sales requirements. Add to that a chic styling, sexiest woman of the world past and voices tried and tested by Casting: the qualification has been achieved. Musically speaking, Monrose won't survive the group stage like this. "

LetMeEntertainYou criticized the arbitrariness of the electronic songs, but praised the ballads for it. Here Monrose could "show what is vocal in them much better". The rather unusual song No No No takes a back seat in terms of the instrumentation and allows Capristo's “distinctive vocals to come into their own”.
