Sheilla Tavares de Castro (born July 1, 1983 in Belo Horizonte ) is a Brazilian volleyball player . She won the Olympic gold medal in 2008 and 2012.

Career

Castro began her career in 1997 at the Mackenzie Esporte Clube . In 2000 she moved to the Minas Tênis Clube. In 2002 she won the Brazilian championship with the club. In the same year, the universal player made her debut in the Brazilian national team , which won the 2003 South American Championship. In 2004 Castro moved to the Italian league for Robursport Pesaro . A year later, she managed to defend the title in the continental championship and win the Grand Prix with the national team . In 2006 Pesaro won the CEV Cup and after another Grand Prix success, the universal player took part in the 2006 World Cup, which only ended in the final for Brazil. In 2007, Brazil continued the winning streak in South America and achieved second place in the Pan American Games and in the World Cup . In the 2007/08 season Castro won the national championship and the CEV Cup with Pesaro and the Grand Prix again with Brazil . At the Olympic tournament , the national team won the final against the USA . Castro returned to Brazil and played for São Caetano EC. In 2009 the next international titles followed in South America and at the Grand Prix . In 2010, however, the Brazilians only finished second at the Grand Prix and the World Championship . Castro then moved to Rio de Janeiro VC. With the new club she became Brazilian champion in 2011. The national team finished second again in the Grand Prix , but won the South American Championship and the Pan American Games . In 2012, she finished second at the Grand Prix for the third time in a row . In London, Brazil managed to defend their title at the 2012 Olympic Games .
