Sibylle Master
Sibylle Meister (born May 21, 1963 in Pinneberg ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since October 2016 . From 2016 to 2018 she was the state chairman of the Berlin FDP and thus participated in a leading role in the re-entry of the liberals into the Berlin House of Representatives and the German Bundestag.
Education and activity
Sibylle Meister graduated from the Celtis-Gymnasium in Schweinfurt in 1982. Then studied at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg Business Administration and laid in 1987 the exam for business graduate from. She has worked at Karstadt AG since 1988 , came to Berlin in 1992, after stints in Munich and Hamburg, and from 1995 to 2004 headed the book department in the Karstadt department store on Hermannplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg. From 2007 to 2012 Meister headed the office of the regional office of the Berlin FDP as general manager. She now works as a real estate agent.
Political commitment
In 1990 Sibylle Meister joined the FDP . From 1997 to 1998 she was a member of the state board of the Berlin regional association. Meister was to belong to this again several times in a row, namely from 2000 to 2007 and from 2014 to 2016. On March 11, 2016, Sibylle Meister was finally elected chairman of the FDP . It is assigned to the social-liberal wing.
In the Berlin election in 2001 , she was in the Reinickendorf district in the Berlin House of Representatives voted, which it belonged until of 2006. After the 2001 election, Meister was responsible for the areas of culture and science in the coalition negotiations. However, the negotiations failed and the party went into opposition. In the parliamentary group she became the cultural policy spokeswoman and member of the main committee . Meister was also a member of the board of trustees for the Louise Schröder Medal and the Lette Association . Since the FDP was no longer represented in parliament after the election with a result of 1.8%, Meister's mandate also ended.
In 2016, the FDP achieved 6.7% in the election to the House of Representatives and moved back into the Berlin Parliament. In doing so, Meister again made the leap over the Reinickendorf district list to the House of Representatives. Sibylle Meister has been budget spokeswoman and deputy parliamentary group leader since then. She is also an advisory member of the culture committee. In 2017, under their chairmanship, the Berlin Liberals succeeded in gaining a majority in the referendum initiated by the FDP Berlin on the continued operation of Tegel Airport .
At the state party conference in March 2018, Meister did not run again for the chairmanship of the Berlin Liberals.
At the federal level, she is active in the Federal Expert Committee on Taxes and Finances.
