Siegfried Bauer (sculptor)

Siegfried Bauer (born February 1, 1880 in Mährisch-Budwitz ; died 1942 in the Izbica Ghetto ) was an Austrian sculptor and violin maker .

Life

Bauer was born in Moravia and completed a four-year course to become a skilled ceramic worker in Znojmo . Between 1902 and 1909 he studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Carl Kundmann . After completing his studies, he became a member of the Künstlerhaus in 1919 and regularly sent its exhibitions as well as exhibitions of the Austrian Artists Association and the art community . Bauer was deprived of his rights in 1938 for racist reasons and was deported from Vienna to the Izbica ghetto on April 9, 1942 , where he died.
