Siegwulf Turek

Siegwulf Turek (born October 15, 1950 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian director , set designer and projection designer .

biography

Siegwulf Turek studied at the Mozarteum University of Music and Performing Arts , where he received his diploma in 1975. From 1975 to 1976 he was assistant to Prof. Günther Schneider-Siemssen , among others at the Vienna State Opera , the Salzburg Festival , the Bavarian and Hamburg State Operas .

In 1984 he made his directorial debut at the Madrid Opera Festival with Elektra by Richard Strauss . From then on he worked as a freelance director, set designer, costume designer, light designer, projection designer at large national and international opera houses such as the Salzburg Festival, Seattle Opera, Helsinki , Copenhagen , Monte Carlo and others.

As the outfitter of the television shows “ Golden Europe ”, “ Glücksspirale ” and “ARD Wunschkonzert”, there was collaboration with pop and rock stars from Tina Turner to Falco . Siegwulf Turek has been one of the leading artists in the development and design of mega events since 1998 ("Hallmania" Hallstatt , UNESCO World Heritage Site; "Soñadores de España" with Plácido Domingo at EXPO Seville; "The Game of the Senses" Casino Baden at Vienna and “Klangwellen” Wörthersee and Bonn).

From 1979 until the death of Tobias Reiser the Elder. J. Turek's stage sets also shaped numerous productions of the Salzburg Advent Singing .

In 1994 he was appointed Professor of Light Design at the University of Helsinki by the Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari .

In 2006 Turek was the founder and artistic director of the Salzkammergut Mozart Festival “To the roots of genius”, in the context of which Turek designed the special exhibition in the Hallstatt Museum “Turek's Magic Flute World”. Direction and libretto for the new ending of the Mozart opera “ The debt of the first commandment ”.

Since 2006, together with Josef Radauer, in memory of Tobias Reiser, he has once again created his own Advent singing, the Tobias Reiser Advent Singing - in the Great Hall of the University of Salzburg .

In 2007 he was Artistic Director for the mega event "MeLUXina" Luxembourg - European Capital of Culture
