The type 55 is a type of coaster from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .

history

The series was ordered by the Hamburg shipping company OPDR and manufactured in four units from 1967 to 1970. Initially, the ships were used on services of the OPDR, which they sold in the early 1980s. The type ship Cadiz came to French Polynesia in 1980 with the name Aranui , where it was used in liner service between the Society Islands with its home port Papeete . The Aranui was converted into a combi ship in 1984 by adding an additional deck with passenger cabins to the superstructure. After the ship had been laid up in Papeete for a long time , it was sunk on February 15, 2013 under the name Vaeanu off the coast of Tahiti . The Huelva and the Algarve were taken over by the Clausen shipping company from Sønderborg , who converted them into cattle trucks on Svendborg Værft and had them lengthened to 89.30 meters (81.40 meters lpp ) and widened amidships . Both ships were scrapped in the early 2000s. The Seville went to an Indonesian shipping company in 1980 , where it was named Niaga XXIX . The ship was deleted from the register on December 1, 2015 under the name Mamiri .

technology

The Type 55 had a total length of 79.65 meters (72.30 meters Lpp , 75.60 meters survey length ) and a width of 11.80 meters. The ships had deckhouses arranged aft above the engine room and two holds with a grain volume of 2,991 m³. The two hatches of the first three ships were 10.80 meters by 5.00 meters and 22.80 meters by 5.00 meters respectively; the hatch sizes of the last ship built differed slightly at 12.59 meters by 5.20 meters and 20.98 meters by 5.20 meters. There were hatches of the system McGregor used. The loading gear consisted of three slewing cranes from Neuenfelder Maschinenfabrik , each with a load capacity of three tons.

The units were measured as interchangeable ships and could be used as open decks or full decks. The measurement as a full-decker allowed a payload higher by 850 tons.

The four ships were propelled by supercharged seven-cylinder four-stroke diesel engines of the MAN G7V 40/60 type. The Mamiri (formerly Sevilla ) received a Yanmar main engine in the early 2000s. There were two auxiliary diesels with an output of 145 kVA and one with an output of 70 kVA. The ships did not have a bow thruster to support the docking and casting off maneuvers.
