Siim Liivik (born February 14, 1988 in Paide , Estonian SSR ) is a former Finnish - Estonian ice hockey player .

Career

Siim Liivik began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HIFK Helsinki , where he was active until 2007. He then played for a year for the Waterloo Black Hawks in the North American junior league United States Hockey League , after he had played two games for the Finnish U20 national team in the Mestis , the second Finnish division, at the beginning of the 2007/08 season . In the 2008/09 season the winger made his debut for the professional team of HIFK in the SM-liiga . In his rookie year he scored five goals and five assists in a total of 60 games. In the 2010/11 season he won the Finnish championship with his team . He contributed to this success with 21 points scorer, including six goals, in a total of 69 games. In parallel to playing with HIFK, between 2009 and 2012 he made several assignments as a loan player for the Mestis teams Kiekko-Vantaa and KooKoo .

In April 2013, Liivik moved within the league to the Espoo Blues and played there in the 2014/15 season with 11 goals and 17 assists, the best-point season of his career to date. In November 2015, the attacker returned to HIFK and signed a three-year contract. With the HIFK, he took second place in the Finnish championship in 2016. He then left the club despite the contract that was still in force and moved to Svenska Hockeyligan for Örebro HK .

In the 2017/18 season he was assistant captain of the KooKoo team, which had meanwhile been promoted to the Liiga (first Finnish division). He then signed a one-year contract with EC KAC from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League in June 2018 .

International

For Finland , Liivik took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2008 . He prepared a goal in six games.
