Simcoe is the administrative seat of Norfolk County in Ontario , a province of Canada .

The city was founded in 1795 by its namesake John Graves Simcoe and became part of the county in 2001, which it is the seat of today.

The place is located on King's Highway 24 about 60 km southeast of Woodstock and about 15 km northwest of Port Dover on Lake Erie . It is also accessed by GO Transit from the greater Toronto area .

In addition to the Lynnwood / Campbell-Reid House in the neoclassical style, on an elevation above the Lynn River from 1851, the WD Stalker , the last amphibious vehicle of its kind (alligator tug), is worth seeing .
