Simone Eckert

Simone Eckert (* 1966 ) is a German viol player and ensemble leader.

Life

Simone Eckert studied viola da gamba at the Hamburg University of Music with Ingrid Stampa and then at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis , a. a. with Jordi Savall . After completing her studies in 1990 with a diploma in early music, she founded the Ensemble Hamburger Ratsmusik in 1991 , which has recorded more than thirty CDs, mostly with first recordings of compositions for viola da gamba, pardessus de viole and baryton .

She led seminars for viola da gamba at institutions in Germany and England. She has been a lecturer at the Hamburg Conservatory since 1992 and lives as a freelance musician near Hamburg.

As a soloist and ensemble leader, Simone Eckert gives concerts regularly in Germany, many European countries, the USA and China. In addition to compositions from the Renaissance , Baroque and Pre-Classical periods , her repertoire also includes works of new music . In addition, she publishes works of early music for the publishers Dovehouse Editions, New York, the Merseburger Verlag , Kassel and Edition Walhall. For their CD "Lübeck virtuoso", she received the 2006 ECHO Klassik award, their CD "Thomas Selle - Chorale Concertos & Chorale Variations" received with the series "Musica Sacra Hamburgensis" the Echo Klassik Special Prize 2010.
In 2004 she was awarded the culture prize District Pinneberg , 2016 with the Oskar and Vera Ritter Prize.
