Sissi Closs

Elisabeth Sissi Closs (* 1954 in St. Ingbert ) is a German computer scientist and lecturer at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences .

life and work

Sissi Closs initially studied up to the intermediate diploma at the University of Saarland and then completed her studies at the Technical University of Munich as a computer scientist . Since 1997 she has been professor for information and media technology at the University of Karlsruhe. It had a major impact on the development of technical documentation in Germany. In 1987 she founded a service company for software documentation in Munich , with which she was one of the pioneers in the DITA standard. In 1994, 1998 and 2000 it was awarded prizes from the Bavarian State Government , twice with the Total E-Quality award, and in 1999 with the “Cosmo Award 99” from Cosmopolitan . After 25 years, in 2012 she sold the Comet group of companies, which had grown to 75 employees, to Semcon .

In 2011, the specialist magazine Computerwoche counted Closs among the top 100 most important personalities in the German ITC landscape. The criteria for inclusion on the list included a. Weight of the voice in the industry, visionary, special merits, individual professional performance and likely future role.
