Michael Dapaah (born August 10, 1991 in London ) is a British actor , comedian and rapper . He was best known for his fictional personality, MC Big Shaq .

Life

Dapaah was born to Ghanaian parents in Sutton , London , and grew up in Croydon . At the age of 17, he became a member of London's National Youth Theater in 2008 and graduated from Brunel University with a degree in theater, film and television in 2014 .

Career

Dapaah began his career with his own mockumentary series #SWIL ("Somewhere In London"), which was viewed over a million times on the YouTube video platform by August 2017.

On 29 August 2017 he joined the BBC telecast BBC 1xtra's Charlie Sloth: Fire In The Booth on where he his alter-ego Big Shaq played. The rap performance Man's Not Hot presented in it also met with interest outside of Great Britain and became a viral hit. Crucial for the success of the video was the unusual, funny text and the clumsy appearance in the studio. The video has been parodied and reused by other artists.

On September 22, 2017, Dapaah released a studio version of the performance. The music video for the title was released on October 25, 2017. The video includes cameos by Waka Flocka , Lil Yachty , the Dutch rap group Broederliefde and DJ Khaled .
