Elisabeth (Sissy) Mayerhoffer (* May 12, 1955 in Vienna ; † June 7 or 8, 2018 ) was an Austrian broadcast manager . At ORF she worked as commercial director and most recently as head of the Humanitarian Broadcasting department. In the latter function, she was considered the "top fundraiser of the ORF".

Life

Mayerhoffer grew up in Perchtoldsdorf . Her mother had a wine-growing business , her father was the architect Paul Katzberger . After completing elementary and secondary school and the HBLA for female economic professions in Wiener Neustadt , Mayerhoffer completed his school career in 1976 with the Matura . She then studied ethnology and art history at the University of Vienna .

Professional activities

At the beginning of 1979 she started working as a freelancer at ORF in various functions (assistant director, editing, administration, directing and design). Between 1986 and 1989 she worked in the private sector.

In 1992 Mayerhoffer returned to the media business, first as a producer for Rudolf Klausnitzer , then in marketing for the station Ö3 . In 1995 and 1996 she headed the public relations and organization department at the federal party headquarters of the ÖVP . From February 1996 to the end of the electoral term in 2000, she sat for the ÖVP in the municipality of Perchtoldsdorf. From 1996 Mayerhoffer acted as head of marketing at Hitradio Ö3 and as managing director of Club Ö3. In 1999 she took over the marketing department in the general director of the ORF and joined the management of the ORF subsidiary ORF-Enterprise . From 2002 she was the managing director of the News publishing group with responsibility for marketing, sales and subscription, and from 2005 she was managing director of the News media service publishing group .

In 2007 Mayerhoffer returned to ORF, until 2009 as the ORF's commercial director, the first woman in this position. During this period she was a member of the supervisory board of ORF Enterprise, Fee Info Service GmbH and a member of the board of the Austria Press Agency . From 2010 she was director of the Humanitarian Broadcast at ORF. This department is responsible for coordinating the humanitarian tasks of the ORF ( neighbors in need , light in the dark , advice on the wire , helping like us, sign language interpreting, audio description).

After a long and serious illness, she died on the night of June 8, 2018.
