Slaughterhouse ( English for slaughterhouse ) is the debut album by the American rap group Slaughterhouse . It was released on August 11, 2009 on the E1 Music label .
Production and samples
Nine different producers were involved in the production of the album. Thus produced DJ Khalil songs The One and Cuckoo , while Street Runner beats to Sound Off and Not Tonight created. The D12 -member Mr. Porter produced the instrumentals to Salute and Cut You Loose . Microphone was produced by the producer The Alchemist , who was under contract with Shady Records , and Emile provided the music for the pieces Onslaught 2 and Killaz . In addition, Focus ( Lyrical Murderers ), RealSon ( Pray (It's a Shame) ) and Filthy Rockwell ( Rain Drops ) each produced a beat. The instrumental for the iTunes bonus track Fight Klub comes from Frequency.
Six tracks on the album contain samples of songs by other artists. Sound Off samples the song It's Too Late by The Stylistics , while Microphone contains elements from L'alpagueur by Michel Colombier . Not Tonight samples the track I Don't Know Why I Love You by Thelma Houston and The One contains elements of the songs I'm Still # 1 by Boogie Down Productions , Janie's Got a Gun by Aerosmith and Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz . In addition, Pray (It's a Shame) samples the song It's a Shame by The Spinners and Cut You Loose the song You're No Good by The Harvey Averne Dozen.
Cover design
The album cover shows the four band members , each dressed in black and with a black baseball cap in front of a dark gray background. Joe Budden is in the upper left, Crooked I in the upper right, Joell Ortiz in the lower left and Royce da 5'9 ″ in the lower right. The white lettering Slaughterhouse is in the upper part of the picture.
Guest Posts
There are guest contributions by other artists on six songs on the album. The singer K-Young sings the chorus of Lyrical Murderers , while The New Royales can be heard in the chorus of the song The One . The rapper Fatman Scoop appears on Onslaught 2 and Pharoahe Monch supports Slaughterhouse on the track Salute . The rapper novel is also featured on Rain Drops and Killaz is a collaboration with the artists Melanie Rutherford and C. Brown.

With around 18,000 copies sold in the first week, the album entered the US charts at number 25 and stayed in the top 200 for five weeks. The album was unable to place in the German charts.
The songs The One and Microphone were released as singles. However, both could not place themselves in the charts.
