Michel Colombier

Michel Colombier (born May 23, 1939 in Lyon , France , † November 14, 2004 in Los Angeles ) was a French film composer .

Colombier wrote the music for more than a hundred films. He became known worldwide for the soundtrack for Purple Rain (1984) by Albert Magnoli , Against Every Chance (1984) by Taylor Hackford and White Nights - Die Nacht der Ende (1985) also by Taylor Hackford. He worked with many well-known French and US artists, including Charles Aznavour and Prince . For his work, Colombier received the French César film award twice .

In addition to the film and television music, classical works can also be found in his compositions. He has written music for the Kronos Quartet , the jazz musician Branford Marsalis and various ballet music.

Colombier was married twice and had three children from each marriage. He died of cancer.
