Slobodan Čašule

Slobodan Čašule (born September 27, 1945 in Skopje , Macedonia ; † December 18, 2015 in Madrid , Spain ) was a Macedonian journalist and politician who was Foreign Minister from 2001 to 2002 and, most recently, Ambassador to Spain from 2013 to his death in 2015 was.

Life

Čašule, son of the diplomat and writer Kole Čašule , co-founded TV Skopje in 1965 and worked for it until 1967. He then worked from 1967 to 1974 as a correspondent for TV Skopje in Chile and Peru . During this time he also completed a degree in journalism at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru , which he graduated in 1972. From 1974 to 1980 he was the correspondent of the Yugoslav news and press agency Tanjug for Latin America and the Caribbean . After his return he acted between 1980 and 1990 as editor-in-chief of Tanjug in the Socialist Republic of Macedonia . After he was director and editor-in-chief of the radio station Radio Macedonia between 1990 and 1994 , he was general director of Nova Makedonija , the oldest daily newspaper in Macedonia, between January 1994 and April 1999 .

On November 30, 2001, Čašule was appointed Foreign Minister by Prime Minister Ljubčo Georgievski as successor to Ilinka Mitreva and held this ministerial office until his replacement by Ilinka Mitreva on November 1, 2002. He was then elected Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia in 2002, to which he belonged for a legislative period until 2006.

In 2013 Čašule became Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia in Spain and remained in this post until his death.
