The type Ryn-M (also type Rhein-M ) is a type of coaster from the Slovak shipyard Slovenské Lodenice in Komárno on the Danube . Twelve units of this type of ship were built for the Wessels shipping company in Haren (Ems) . The ships were transferred from the shipyard to Constanța without a bridge deck , chimney, antenna or aft mast , where they were completed and delivered after the sea trials.
description
The drive of the vessels carried by a MaK - diesel engine of the type M20C 8 with 1,520 kW power . The motor acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction gear . The ships reach a speed of 11.7 knots . The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with 185 kW power.
For power generation are two Sisu - diesel generators (type: 645 DSBIG) each with 126 kVA apparent power available. A Sisu diesel generator (type: 320 DSRG) with 50 kVA apparent power was installed as an emergency generator.
The deckhouse is in the rear of the ships. There is a box-shaped hold in front of the deckhouse . The cargo area is 56.55 meters long, 10.20 meters wide and 8.13 meters high. The capacity of the room is 4,672 m³. It is closed with folding hatch covers consisting of eight segments , which can be moved hydraulically.
The ships are equipped with two bulkheads with which the hold can be divided. The bulkheads can be erected in ten positions. If the bulkheads are not needed, they can be stowed in the front or back of the hold. The usable length of the cargo space is then reduced to 55.84 m, the capacity with bulkheads on board is 4,588 m³. The tank top can be loaded with 15 t / m², the hatch cover with 1.6 t / m². 36 TEU can be loaded on deck .
The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class "E"). The masts of the ships can be folded under bridges. With the masts folded, the ships are 19 m high, with the mast standing on the bridge house 25.35 m high (measured from the keel ).

Others
The Theseus is equipped with a 160 m² SkySails towing kite. The Wessels shipping company had previously tested the system on another ship.
An incident occurred in September 2009 when a helicopter crossed the ship's course on the way to a drilling platform off the Dutch coast and the pilot said he “suddenly” saw the freighter's kite sail in its flight path.
