course
The Lomnice rises in the Brdská vrchovina on the western slope of the Třemšín (827 m) at an altitude of 744 m in three source streams that unite to the Smolivecký potok . Their course leads into the Central Bohemian hill country first to the south via Radošice, Mladý Smolivec , Zámlyní, Předmíř , Horní Mlýn, Dolní Mlýn and Lnáře , where the brook is dug in the fish ponds Veský rybník, Zámecký rybník and Podhájččík. The Smolivecký potok then turns to the southeast and feeds other large ponds near Tchořovice with the Hořejší rybník and Dolejší rybník. The railway line between Nepomuk and Blatná follows downstream . Other places on Bach are Řečice and Blatná.
From the confluence of the Závišínský potok in Blatná, the water carries the name Lomnice. The further course of the river leads to the east via Lapač, Buzice , Buzičky, Václavov , Čermák, Nový Mlýn, Míreč, Hořejší Mlýn, Mirotice , Neradov, Rakovické Chalupy, Karlov and Třebošov. Between Karlov and Třebošov, the Lomnice valley narrows at the foot of Habrový vrch (439 m). This section is protected as the Vystrkov nature reserve. Then the Lomnice flows in a southeastern direction between Ostrovec and Dolní Ostrovec. The following narrow valley, which extends over Úvěrka to the confluence of the Skalice , forms the nature reserve V Obouch. The lowest, three kilometer long section of the river from the confluence of the Skalice through the Doupata forest belongs to the storage area of the Orlík Dam . After 59.27 kilometers the Lomnice flows into the Otava at an altitude of 349 m near Oslov in the Orlík Dam . The catchment area of the Lomnice is 830.74 km².
The wide Lomnice valley and its small tributaries between Lnáře and Blatna have been used for fish farming since the Middle Ages.
The section of the river after the union with the Skalice was previously attributed to the Skalice, so that the Lomnice is recorded as a tributary of the Skalice on old maps.
