Snoqualmie Pass is a census-designated place (CDP) in King and Kittitas Counties in Washington state . At the United States Census 2010 the population was 311 people.

The CDP is named after the mountain pass of Interstate 90 across the Cascade Range named, which even after the Indians of the strain Snoqualmie is named whose ancestral lands west of the pass in the Snoqualmie Valley was.

Demographics

As of the 2000 census , there were 201 residents, 88 households, and 60 families in Snoqualmie Pass. The population density was 27 per km². There were 330 housing units at an average density of 44.4 per km².

The population was 93.03% white , 1% Asian , 1% Pacific islanders, and 4.98% two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 0.5% of the population.

Of the 88 households, 23.9% had children under the age of 18, 61.4% were run by married couples living together, and 2.3% by single mothers; 31.8% were non-families. 21.6% of the households were singles and 2.3% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.68 people.

The median age in the city was 40 years. 18.9% of the population were under 18, 6% between 18 and 24, 37.3% between 25 and 44, 29.9% between 45 and 64 and 8, 65 years or older. There were 109.4 men for every 100 women, and 111.7 men for every 100 women over the age of 18.

The community consists essentially of mountain lodges that are seasonally inhabited by residents of the Seattle metropolitan area , as well as about 150 year-round residents. Winter sports are the main attraction, but outdoor activities can be practiced year round.

The Pacific Crest Trail crosses Snoqualmie Pass and a variety of other trails are suitable for hiking and climbing in the summer and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.

Snoqualmie Pass is also the highlight of Snoqualmie, a group of alpine skiing areas managed by Boyne USA Resorts . The four cultivated areas are: Alpental , Summit West (formerly: Snoqualmie Summit ), Summit Central (formerly: Ski Acres ), and Summit East (formerly: Hyak ). The Summit at Snoqualmie , a hotel, is closest to Seattle, so it's often crowded on weekends.

Snowmobiling is very popular east of the pass during the winter months. In summer and autumn, paragliders and hang-gliders can be seen flying over the valley, gliding along the mountain ranges and landing at Keechelus Lake .
