Sobekemsaf I was an ancient Egyptian king ( Pharaoh ) of the 17th Dynasty ( Second Intermediate Period ) and ruled after Franke around 1619 to 1603 BC. Chr.
supporting documents
Often regarded as the 3rd king of the 17th dynasty, this ruler is said to have ruled Turin for 16 years after the royal papyrus . Part of the Sobekemsaf family is known from a stele from Dendera : he and his wife Nubemhat have their daughter Sobemhab, who married the Ameni. Ameni was the son of an unnamed ruler and the son of a Queen Haanches. Another son of the ruler named Sobekemsaf appears on a statue from Abydos and was a priest. It is controversial whether it is the later king of the same name.
The king is relatively well occupied. He appears in some graffiti in Wadi Hammamat from his 7th year and another in Wadi Shatt el-Rigale . He built the Month temple in Medamut , and a stele also comes from there. Further construction work is attested in Gebelein and el-Tod . One statue comes from Abydos and another double statue with the goddess Satis from the Hekaib sanctuary of Elephantine . Another statue in the British Museum is without a precise indication of its origin. From Thebes we know two small obelisks that were found in the cachette in the Karnak temple , several statues and a lintel with his name on it. A block comes from the temple of Mentuhotep II in Deir el-Bahari .
His grave
The pyramid tomb of Sobekemsaf I was in Dra Abu el-Naga / Thebes. According to James H. Breasted , this was still noticeable in the mid-1930s. The grave itself was probably looted by locals in 1827: a canopic box , a scarab and Sobekemsaf's heart scarab come from here . All these objects only name his personal name, but are attributed to him, since the grave of Sobekemsaf I is said to have been robbed in ancient times. The mummy itself is said to have been found badly derelict.
