Somntongo is an Inkhundla (administrative unit) in the extreme southeast of the Shiselweni region in Eswatini . It is 327 km² and according to the 2007 census it had 5457 inhabitants.

geography

Inkhundla is located in the southeast corner of the Shiselweni region on the border with South Africa . The Msuzwane River drains south across the border into the Pongolapoort Reservoir . The place Lavumisa is right on the border with South Africa; the border crossing is near eGolela in South Africa.

Main traffic arteries are MR 11 and MR 8 . At Msuzwane is the royal Royal Jozini Big 6 Private Estate .

The Inkhundla is divided into the Imiphakatsi (chief districts) Etjeni / Ezindwendweni, Luhlekwini, Maplotini / Lavumisa, Nsubane, Nthuthwakazi, Phangweni and Vimizibuko.
