Song Min-kyu (born August 25, 1990 in Yongin ) is a South Korean tennis player .

Career

Song played a handful of ITF Future Tour tournaments for the first time in 2011, as well as his first ATP Challenger Tour tournament in Seoul . After a long break, he returned to gaming in 2013. After he was able to reach the final in a singles for the first time in 2014, he won his first title in this category in singles and doubles in 2015. Thanks to a wildcard , he was also used in doubles at the Challenger in Busan , where he and his partner only lost in the match tie-breaker in the final . This year he was also called up for the first time in the South Korean Davis Cup team , where he has so far lost two matches in doubles. In the tennis world rankings this year was his best so far. At the end of the year he was ranked 783 in singles, while he was ranked 440 in doubles.

After less successful years in 2016 and 2017, 2018 became the most successful to date. In singles, he came up to 600th with his third future title - just below his career high of 591th place in July 2017. In doubles, Song won six futures, as many as he had won in doubles up to then. In Gwangju , South Korea , he played a wildcard alongside Nam Ji-sung at a Challenger and won his first title there. In doubles, he was in November 246, his career high in doubles.
