From 2011, Nam regularly played professional tournaments, initially mainly on the third-class ITF Future Tour , but also made two appearances on the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour . The first success came in 2012. He won his first individual future title and reached the quarter-finals at the Challenger in Seoul . In doubles he was in the final of the same tournament, which was lost in two sets. In addition, he also secured two future titles in doubles. He finished the year in the top 600 singles and doubles in the top 500 of the tennis world rankings . In early 2013 Nam was appointed to the South Korean Davis Cup team , where he won his match against Vijayant Malik in the game against India . Until mid-2016, he could hardly improve in the ranking. In singles, he reached three more Challenger quarter-finals and won another future. In doubles, he increased his account of future titles to eleven and moved into his second Challenger final in Bangkok , where he lost again. After a break of over a year, Nam returned to the tournament in early 2018. He was able to reach the finals of five futures this year, two of which he won. His greatest success so far was the final at the Challenger in Gwangju , where he started from the qualification and made it to the final without losing a set. Here he was defeated in three sets by the surprise finalist Maverick Banes from Australia. During the same period, Nam won five futures in doubles and also made it to the final in Gwangju with his compatriot Song Min-kyu . He won this in the match tie-breaker . In the ranking list he was highest in singles with 341th place at the end of 2018, in doubles he is currently 291th place just below his highest value of 250th place in 2013.
