Sonja Eschefeld (born November 20, 1948 in Klein Bünzow near Anklam , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) is a German sculptor , painter and medalist .

Life

After her apprenticeship as a plasterer , Sonja Eschefeld worked from 1967 to 1969 as an art shaper in a Berlin bronze foundry of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . She then studied sculpture at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art until 1974 , where Karl-Heinz Schamal was one of her teachers . From 1977 to 1980 she was a master class student at the Berlin Academy of the Arts with Ludwig Engelhardt and Wieland Förster . Since then she has been working freelance.

From 1987 to 1989 Sonja Eschefeld held a teaching position at the Technical School for Restoration and Museum Studies at the Nationalgalerie Berlin and from 1991 to 1997 at the Institute for Art Education at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

She lives and works in Berlin and was married to the sculptor Siegfried Krepp (1930–2013).
