Springpfuhlpark

The Springfuhlpark is a park in the Berlin district of Marzahn in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district, directly on Helene-Weigel-Platz and the Springpfuhl S-Bahn station .

history

Springpfuhlpark

The landscape planner Hubert Matthes realized the Springfuhlpark between 1976 and 1979 in the course of the new housing estate. In the park is the eponymous body of water : the Springpfuhl . There are numerous deciduous and coniferous trees in the park, a large part of which are old trees. In 1992 the area was expanded to the east, here the district's green space department laid out a new acacia forest. At the northern edge, the park turns into a lawn. There are well-tended paths for pedestrians, and there are also children's playgrounds , small sports areas and plenty of seating to visit. Between 2005 and 2014, the entire park was upgraded in several construction phases with almost 2.4 million euros . After an office building on the northwestern edge was demolished , the park was expanded from originally 10 to 23  hectares . The beaten track was partly paved at the end of 2014 or replaced by asphalt paths. A large part of the funds for it comes from job creation schemes . The Marzahn-Hellersdorf district contributed to the financing with around 790,000 euros.

Art in the park

Since 1984 the following are sculptures made of sandstone of various artists in the park: lying, Standing Girl, Spring, family (mother and child), family, poet and muse, kneeling, lying, sitting, plastic body - Large flowers, mother and child , Orpheus and Eurydice and the awakening . The authors were among others Sonja Eschefeld , Ingrid Puhlemann, Ladislav Chochole, Barbara Zambrzycka-Sliwa, Matti Varik, Adrian Popovici and Emilia Nikolova-Bayer , Horst Göhler, Robert Rehfeldt , Wolfgang Weber, Gyula Meszes-Toth, Bojidar Nikolov Konzarew and Jürgen Pansow .

Spring pool

The 1.5 hectare Springpfuhl is a relic of the last Ice Age . In order to design the park, it was connected with adjacent water bodies to form a three-part body of water.

Many water birds such as mallards , coots and swans can be seen in the spring pond .
