The Saine is a river in France that runs in the Jura department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region .
geography
course
The Saine rises from a karst spring in the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park north of Foncine-le-Haut . In a small valley basin, the spring water flows as a source of debris from the talus of a mountain.
The Saine first drains in a south-westerly direction and then turns to north-west at Foncine-le-Bas . In the municipality of Syam near the hamlet of Les Forges , it flows after 19 km as a left tributary into the 11 km long Ain , which turns around 140 ° immediately before the mouth and takes the main flow direction of the Saine.
