Southeast Arcadia is a census-designated place (CDP) in DeSoto County in the US state of Florida with 6554 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Southeast Arcadia borders directly on the city of Arcadia in the north and is located about 120 km southeast of Tampa . The CDP is crossed or tangent to US Highway 17 ( SR 35 ) and Florida State Roads 31 and 70 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 6554 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 2327 households. The population density was 346.8 inh / km². 55.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 4.9% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 35.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.4% to several ethnic groups. 56.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 43.6% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 24.8% of all households. 70.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.34 people and the average family size was 3.58 people.

32.0% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 33.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 13.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 30 years. 56.4% of the population were male and 43.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 35,828, with 26.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 62.25% of the population and 37.75% spoke Spanish .
