history

The origin of today's Spar- und Kredit-Bank eG goes back to two cooperatives in Gemünden (Wohra) that were founded almost simultaneously in 1888, but independently of one another. On December 18, 1888, on the one hand, the Gemündener Savings and Loan Association, registered cooperative, was founded in Gemünden and on December 27, 1888, on the other hand, the Creditverein, registered cooperative in Gemünden (Wohra) . Both cooperatives were founded according to the Raiffeisen system . The entry of the cooperatives in the cooperative register at the Royal District Court of Rosenthal was made on January 10, 1889 under the register numbers 1 (savings and loan association) and 2 (credit association).

Both cooperatives initially developed independently of one another. It was not until the general assembly on December 16, 1934 that the members of both cooperatives decided to merge. The credit association was the accepting cooperative, the savings and loan association the transferring cooperative. The merger took effect when it was entered in the cooperative register in January 1935. The name of the combined bank was Spar- und Kreditverein eGmuH, Gemünden (Wohra) . With the merger, the "computer room age" was also ended. While the computer's private rooms previously served as business premises, after the merger the first own business premises were rented in what was then the Debus inn.

In 1961 the statutes were changed in various points. The transformation of the cooperative with unlimited liability into one with limited liability took place. In the course of this, the name of the cooperative was changed to the name Spar-u.Kredit-Bank eG, which is still valid today .

In 1963 the merger with the Raiffeisenkasse Dodenhausen (founded in 1911) took place and with it the entry into the goods business. In the same year, they moved into new business premises in Gemündener Steinweg / corner of Untertor, where the bank is still based today.

In 1968 an office was opened in Haina (monastery); In 1972 the Raiffeisenkasse Langendorf / Wohra (founded in 1892) and the Raiffeisenkasse der Bunstruth in Sehlen (founded in 1923) were merged.

In 1987 and 1988 the main office building in Gemünden was expanded with an extension. In 1989, the last merger to date with Raiffeisenbank Rosenthal eG (founded in 1889) took place.
