coat of arms
Blazon : “Elevated divided by red and blue by a silver (white) wavy bar; above three silver stars, below a silver medal cross. "
Next to the wavy bar for the name Wohra, the stars and the order cross stand for the four districts of the community. The stars are reminiscent of the former Grafschaft Ziegenhain, to which the area belonged, the order in the form of a Maltese cross with the stylized crown of thorns stands for the Huguenot village of Hertingshausen .
traffic
The Wohratalbahn ran through the municipality in which there was a train station in Wohra next to the Halsdorf train station . Passenger traffic was stopped on May 28, 1972, and the line was closed on December 31, 1981 after goods traffic was abandoned .
Juniper Willow Nature Reserve
The "Wacholderweide Langendorf nature reserve" is one of the natural monuments of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. The district authorities, the Hessian Society for Ornithology and Nature Conservation (HGON) and “Hessenforst” are cooperating on the project. Through purchase and exchange, five existing natural monument areas were expanded through acquisitions and combined to form a large area. In December 2008, the entire area was provided with a permanent fence for year-round grazing. In the spring of 2009 a cattle shelter was built in the "Long Valley". The land acquisition and the buildings were refinanced from the equalization levy under nature conservation law.
The 15 hectare area is managed by a specially founded civil law company (GbR) "Langendorfer Wacholderweide (Weideverein)". This GbR is a state-recognized pasture association as an agricultural enterprise . The current (June 2009) ten members are animal breeders and keepers from Langendorf and Wohra. The animal species included range from Galloway cattle and fjord horses to Boer goats and Rhön sheep .
