Halsdorf is a part of the municipality Wohratal in the central Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf .

Halsdorf is located approx. 16 km northeast of Marburg an der Wohra .

history

The first mention of Halsdorf was in a document dated between 780 and 802 as "Habelscendorf". At that time the village was probably just a few houses, maybe just a single homestead. The place can look back on a history of over 1200 years and is one of the oldest (proven) places in the region.

On July 1, 1970, the municipality of Wohratal was newly formed as part of the regional reform in Hesse through the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities of Halsdorf and Wohra.

Halsdorf has a lively club life. These associations maintain the village culture, promote youth work or provide variety in the village with numerous events.

  • The male choir is the oldest in Halsdorf. The year 1873, shown on the club flag, is considered the founding date of MGV Halsdorf.
  • The trombone choir offers a repertoire consisting of old and new church and secular pieces of music.
  • The 1st DV Kastebier is a "Schoppenelf" founded in 1977, which gave amateurs interested in football the opportunity to play football outside of the established sports clubs. The association is now responsible for a May hike and the Backhaus Festival, as well as the maintenance of the sports field and the Backhaus. For the 1200th anniversary of the town, the 1st DV Kastebier carried out the border crossing .
  • The registered fan club of Eintracht-Frankfurt "Wohrataler Adler" was founded on October 3rd, 1998. He has the largest proportion of youth in the Halsdorf clubs.
  • In addition to fire protection and general help, the volunteer fire brigade also makes an important contribution to youth work.
  • The Halsdorfer Burschenschaft also organizes an annual twilight pint and a fair for the village community. It can look back on a tradition of over 100 years.
  • The rifle club emerged from the so-called "warrior club". This association celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1927, so it was founded in 1902.
  • The traditional costume and folk dance group eV Halsdorf was founded in 1962 and is dedicated to the maintenance and representation of folk dances, folk songs and dialect. The association has around 130 members. The group wears the Protestant Marburg costume and regularly takes part in the Hessentag.

In terms of traffic, Halsdorf is connected via Landesstraße 3073 and Bundesstraße 3 . Until 1981, Halsdorf was a stop on the Wohratalbahn . The former station building in Halsdorf was converted into a residential building after the line was closed in 1981.

The Hessian long-distance cycle route R6 runs right past the station building.
