action

Robert Scott is a retired Marine Sergeant who trains covert operations recruits. He trains Curtis, whom he later selects for his unit. He also meets the instructor Sergeant Jacqueline Black.

Scott is hired for an emergency operation in Boston to find and rescue President Laura Newton's daughter . Laura has been missing for a few days and this is kept a secret from the media. Scott learns that she may have prostituted herself in a club and that she could have been kidnapped by the people behind it without knowing their real identity.

After torturing the alleged pimp, Scott learns the address of the "contact agency". There he learns that Laura was drugged and abducted while they did not know who they had in their power. In the course of the investigation, they suspect Laura in a beach house; In this, however, they cannot find Laura despite the strong guard, but they do find signs of Laura's presence. Meanwhile, they are being prevented from looking for further evidence by a helicopter that is being shot at.

Scott believes the government has lied and is trying to expose the truth. He learns that Laura's accidental kidnapping is due to the president needing extra protection after he came to town for an affair and had Secret Service people out. The president's advisers then faked Laura's death to protect it from political repercussions.

Scott flies to Dubai and can free Laura. A gunfight breaks out at the airport in which Scott is wounded and Black rushes to his aid. Laura escapes on a plane and Black dies of a gunshot wound. In the US, Laura's rescue is celebrated as a masterful operation by the secret services, while Scott goes into hiding in London.

Reviews

“Confused, lazy and implausibly told story of an agent with an incorrectly cast macho hero, which means that the colorless character from the test tube does not have a hint of an authentic personality. What starts out as a typical action film is quickly reduced to homely beating and tormenting. "

“Convincing actors and a gripping, if not entirely coherent story about power, morality and loyalty raise the cynical thriller by director and author David Mamet (' Heist - The Last Coup ') above average. It's just a shame that the wonderful William H. Macy (' Fargo ') is in the picture for little more than a few minutes. Conclusion: system criticism, cleverly packaged as a thriller "
