* Without championship points

The first official speed car race was won by Gianni Morbidelli. Starting from pole, he was able to continuously expand his lead over the 20 lap race distance to eight seconds. Uwe Alzen, who had confirmed his participation only a few days before the start of the championship and had completed the first laps in a speed car in the morning, surprisingly came second.

In the second race of the weekend on Saturday, Stefan Johansson was on pole. He had finished eighth in the first run, and the speedcar rules dictate this reversal of the starting order. On the 18th lap, Nicolas Navarro, who had been leading up to this point, was eliminated due to a technical problem. So the way to victory was clear for Morbidelli, but this time Lauda followed directly.

In 2007 two events with demo races were held: on November 3rd at the Bahrain International Circuit and on November 17th at the Dubai Autodrome . In addition, further point races were planned in 2007, but they were not driven because the planning had not yet been completed and the field of participants was still too small.
