Sperling und der Mann im Abseits is a German TV film directed by Marcus O. Rosenmüller from 2003 . It is the thirteenth episode of the ZDF crime film series Sperling with Dieter Pfaff in the title role.

A Vietnamese cigarette smuggler is found brutally beaten. During the questioning of the witnesses it is stated that the two policemen Bernd Scheurich and Heinz Steinke observed the Vietnamese and then claimed to have followed them. For his investigation, Commissioner Hans Sperling goes to the Lichtenberg police station , which has to deal with the everyday problems and crimes of the citizens.
