Sparrow and the cat in a trap is a German Christmas film by Friedemann Fromm from 2005 . It is the seventeenth episode of the ZDF crime film series Sperling with Dieter Pfaff in the title role.

Chief Inspector Hans Sperling is called on the day before Christmas Eve . The twelve-year-old Yannick Winteracker has been reported missing. Georg Giessen, employer and family friend, was the last to see him. During the questioning, he got caught up in contradictions and played with Inspector Sperling. Valuable time is passing.
