Sperling and the Burning Arm is a German TV film directed by Dominik Graf from 1998 . It is the seventh episode of the ZDF crime film series Sperling with Dieter Pfaff in the title role.

The episode was awarded the Bavarian TV Prize and the TV Film Prize of the German Academy of Performing Arts in 1999.

action

The chief inspector, Hans Sperling, witnessed a physical dispute between two guests and the landlord in the restaurant about the bill. The next day, Sperling celebrates there with his colleagues. This time it is an accordionist that the landlord clashes with. Young people take sides for the musician and take massive action against the host. In the riot, all of the dishes were broken and the table candle caught a flame on Sperling's arm. When his colleagues put out the flames, he wants to confront the young people and the landlord. But they accuse each other until the landlady confides in Sperling that they are being blackmailed for protection money. The inspector wants to help the couple, but the landlady insists on taking matters into her own hands.

criticism

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the film the best possible rating, they pointed with the thumbs up. They stated: "Rough TV thriller with a burning topic."
