Sperling and the Lost Stones is a German TV film directed by Guido Pieters from 1997 . It is the third episode of the ZDF crime film series Sperling with Dieter Pfaff in the title role.
action
The chief inspector, Hans Sperling, went to a pub where a popular regular guest there was shot. Sperling and his assistant Karsten Rhode find old gemstones hidden in his jacket pocket. The two can therefore rule out a robbery . During a tour of the deceased's apartment, Sperling discovers that 50 years ago he was jointly responsible for the embezzlement of Jewish assets in World War II.

criticism
The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the film the best possible rating, they pointed with the thumbs up. They stated: “An explosive mix of crime thriller fun (sic!) And political lesson”.
