Marked with a rascal

The Spitzbubenweg is an eleven kilometer long hiking trail in Jüterbog , a small town in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg .

Background and structure

The first official Jüterbog hiking trail was inaugurated on the 112th German Hiking Day 2012 in Fläming . It begins and ends at Jüterbog train station and opens up the region around the small town in the Nuthe-Nieplitz nature park . It bears its name after the rascals , a slang expression for petty criminals (" crooks ") who were supposed to be intercepted by the city guards at the city gates in Jüterbog in the Middle Ages.

Stations

From the train station, the Spitzbubenweg leads over the Wilhelm-Kempff-Weg into the city. At the castle park , the path splits into a circular path. If you follow it clockwise, you will come across the moat in a northerly direction to the city's waterworks, which was built in 1914. At the same time, the city built the 43 meter high water tower. Here is the first of four viewpoints, the Hohe Blick , which allows a panoramic view of the old town with the Gothic hall church of St. Nikolai , which characterizes the town. From the water tower, the path leads east to the former “Bergschlößchen” station, from which a small train ran to Dahme / Mark until 1965 . Further east, the traveler arrives at a hill "Am Holländer", which built after in the 1880s and in the 1950s demolished Dutch windmill is named. At the city's sewage system, Spitzbubenweg touches federal highway 101 and from then on runs south along Liefeldtweg. At the second vantage point, the Grüner Blick, the path crosses the Nuthe , passes one of the three preserved medieval city gates at Neumarkttor and then branches off westwards at Gut Waldau . Here is the historical view , which enables another panoramic view of the old town. If you follow the path further west, the hiker passes the sports field and the town's cemetery. Finally, the path leads to the fourth and last vantage point, the Blanken Blick . It is named after the Blanken Teich , where the city's outdoor pool is located. The Liebfrauenkirche from 1161, the second oldest surviving church in the state of Brandenburg , appears across the water . To the west of the water, the Spitzbubenweg branches off in a northerly direction on a path named after Thietmar von Merseburg , the bishop of Merseburg . From there, the path leads into the palace grounds, lies one of where Hans Klakow created in 1974 sculpture of bronze titled is "Children playing with turtle". In a westerly direction, the Spitzbubenweg leads to the train station and thus back to the starting point of the route.
