The Perform Group is a global sports media company based in the UK , working on a number of digital platforms. The Perform Group includes the sports portals Goal.com , spox.com , Sportal.de , the streaming service DAZN and Opta Sports (sports data).

history

The Perform Group was created in September 2007 through the merger of two Access Group companies : Premium-TV Limited , a provider of web and mobile solutions for the sports sector, and the Inform Group , a digital sports rights agency. The company was renamed in January 2008 under the direction of current Chief Executive Officer Simon Denyer and former Joint CEO Oliver Slipper.

The company Goal.com and Runningball were acquired in February 2011, 2013. The Perform Group also includes the Internet portals Spox.com and Sportal.de as well as Opta Sports (data collection).

2013 Perform Group closed their American company with Sporting News together to Sporting News Media to form, by taking over 65% of the shares. Sporting News former owner, American City Business Journals, retained 35%.

Behind the Perform Group is the majority shareholder Access Industries , an American investment company founded by billionaire Leonard Blavatnik of Russian origin in 1986. According to its own information, Access Industries holds over 85% of the shares in Perform. The access conglomerate also includes the Warner Music Group and stakes in the music services Spotify and Deezer .

Business areas

The Perform Group is a holding company of companies that provide entertainment in the field of digital media. The operational business includes content distribution, subscription, advertising and sponsorship as well as technology and production.

In 2014, Perform Group signed a 10-year, half a billion dollar deal with the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). This gives the WTA 50 million dollars per season.

In 2018, together with Infront, the marketing rights to the competitions of the European Handball Federation from 2020 to 2030 were acquired for half a billion euros. This includes five European championships and ten Champions League seasons, each for men and women.

Opta Sports

Opta Sports is a company that deals with data from the field of sports. The Opta headquarters are in London , with additional offices in Leeds, Munich, Bassano del Grappa, Milan, Paris, Madrid, Montevideo and Amsterdam.

Founded in 2001 as SportingStatz, Opta Live analyzes, saves and sells data in the sports sector at over 60,000 events in 30 sports in 70 countries.

The analyzes created by Opta are used in the betting industry, in online and print, in sponsorship on television and in professional analyzes of athletes. The data recipients are e.g. For example : Sky Sports , ESPN , Arsenal FC , Oulala Fantasy Football, The All Blacks , Manchester City FC , William Hill , Major League Soccer , The Guardian , BBC Sport and Castrol .

Opta operates several Twitter accounts in different languages, which are divided into different sports. In 2013 Opta was taken over by the Perform Group.

DAZN

DAZN  is a paid  streaming service that  has been operated by the  British Perform Group since August 2016 and offers sports broadcasts over the  Internet , currently in  GermanyAustriaSwitzerlandJapanItaly and  Canada
